The Long Table Marrakech

Private dining in the Agafay desert. One table. One evening. One group.

The Long Table Marrakech is a private dining experience in the Agafay desert, 45 minutes from Marrakech, Morocco. It is not a restaurant. There is no public seating, no walk-in service, no shared terrace. Every evening is reserved for a single group: a private table set in the open desert, composed in full around the people gathered at it.

A single table, under the stars, composed entirely around one group. The table is long because the evenings are long: from golden hour through to midnight, the programme moves through activities, music, a Moroccan feast, and a sequence of surprises calibrated to the occasion. The setting shifts from amber to deep blue to black, and the Milky Way arrives slowly overhead.

Available for celebrations, corporate incentive events, brand activations, press trips, and private retreats. Every element · the setting, the menu, the timing, the music, the language spoken at the table · is composed around the group making the request. Nothing is generic. Nothing is repeated.

Our Story

How it began

The Long Table began with a single question: what if a private dinner in Morocco could be designed the way an experience is designed, with intention at every point, from the road out of the city to the last candle burning down? Marrakech has extraordinary settings that most visitors never reach: rocky plateaus above the city where the silence is absolute, walled gardens where time moves differently, mountain terraces where the Atlas range turns violet at dusk.

Founded in 2024, The Long Table Marrakech was built around one conviction: that the best evening you can offer someone in Morocco is an entirely private one, in a setting they would never reach alone, with a table that feels like it was set specifically for them. Because it was. The Agafay desert became the signature setting. Forty-five minutes south of the city, past the last village, the plateau opens into a mineral stillness that has no equivalent closer to home. The first table was set here. Most of them still are.

The concept is deliberately simple: one group, one table, one evening, composed around that group entirely. No other guests. No shared spaces. No fixed menu you choose from a printed card. The evening is written around the occasion, the people, and the setting chosen for them.

The Experience

What an evening looks like

The evening begins in Marrakech. Private vehicles collect the group and drive south through the Palmeraie, past the last of the paved roads, into the Agafay plateau. The transfer is part of the experience: the city recedes, the landscape opens, and the light changes. By the time the table appears on the horizon, the mood has already shifted.

17:30 · Arrival

The group is welcomed at the setting. The table is set. The first drinks are poured. The sun is still above the horizon.

18:00 · Activities

A composed programme of activities chosen for the setting and the group: pottery with local artisans, a desert walk, camel ride, or simply time at the table as the light turns.

19:30 · The Feast

A whole mechoui, slow-roasted over open embers since the afternoon, arrives at the table alongside salads, breads, and preserved accompaniments from local producers.

21:00 · Music

Live Gnaoua musicians take their place. The rhythm settles over the evening. The fire is lit. The stars begin to appear.

22:00 · Stargazing

Far from the city lights, the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye. The programme pauses for this. It is one of the things guests remember longest.

23:30 · Close

The evening ends at the table. Vehicles return the group to Marrakech. Everything that was set up has been cleared before they are gone.

Throughout the evening, a dedicated host manages every logistical detail so that nothing interrupts the occasion. All drinks are included. All transfers are included. All activities are included. Pricing is all-inclusive and available on enquiry.

The Settings

Four settings. Each one private.

The setting is chosen for the group. Each location has a distinct quality of light, sound, and atmosphere. The same evening in the desert and in the Medina are two entirely different experiences.

The Agafay Desert

The signature setting. Forty-five minutes south of Marrakech, the Agafay plateau is a mineral landscape of stone and silence, nothing like the sand dunes most visitors imagine. No other guests, no ambient light, no sound beyond what is brought to the table. The sky here is the reason the table is long: there is simply more of it. The mechoui has been roasting over embers since the afternoon when the group arrives. This is the setting chosen most often, and the one that defines what The Long Table is.

The Palmeraie Garden

A walled private garden in the Palmeraie, the palm grove north of the city. Fig trees, jasmine, lanterns suspended from branches. The city is minutes away but the garden holds its own silence. This setting is chosen for groups who want the intimacy of enclosure rather than the openness of the plateau, and for evenings where the emphasis is on candlelight and close conversation.

The High Atlas

A terrace set above the valley, an hour from Marrakech, where the Atlas peaks are close enough to read the snow lines on them. The air is cooler here, the light arrives differently, and dusk lasts longer than it does in the city. For groups who want altitude, mountain silence, and a view that makes the table feel genuinely remote.

The Medina Riad

A private riad courtyard within the walls of the old city. Zellige tilework, carved cedar, candlelight against plaster. The Medina setting is chosen for groups who want to be inside history rather than outside it: the walls of the riad are centuries old, and the sounds of the evening the call to prayer, the distant souks reach the table as atmosphere rather than interruption.

The Cuisine

Moroccan gastronomy

The menu is Moroccan by origin and contemporary by composition. The centrepiece of every evening is a whole mechoui: a lamb, sourced from small producers in the Haouz plain south of Marrakech, slow-roasted over open embers from the early afternoon until it is served. It arrives at the table pulled apart by hand, falling from the bone, with nothing required beyond salt and cumin.

Around it, the table carries the full range of Moroccan hospitality: zaalouk of aubergine and tomato, taktouka of roasted peppers, preserved lemon salads, cooked carrot with cumin, khobz from a local bakery that morning, harissa, and argan oil. The sequence moves from these shared dishes through to pastilla and mint tea poured from height, the traditional close of a Moroccan meal.

All menus are composed around the group. Vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free, and other dietary requirements are accommodated when communicated at the time of enquiry. The emphasis throughout is on local produce, traditional technique, and the kind of generosity that Moroccan hospitality is named for. Drinks are included throughout the evening: wine, soft drinks, mineral water, and tea.

For Businesses

Incentive, MICE, and corporate events

The Long Table Marrakech is used by companies across Europe and the Gulf as the centrepiece of incentive programmes in Morocco. The experience is well-suited to this context: it is genuinely exclusive, entirely private, and impossible to replicate. Qualities that are difficult to find in a hotel ballroom or a shared restaurant.

Corporate evenings are customised in full: the setting is selected to match the tone of the programme, private branding can be incorporated into the tablescape and communications, the menu reflects the group profile, and a dedicated host manages the evening from arrival to return. Groups range from 8 to 40 guests. The experience accommodates senior leadership dinners, client entertainment, team recognition evenings, and multi-day incentive programmes where The Long Table forms one key evening.

Press trips and brand activations are also accommodated. The visual language of the setting: long table, candlelight, desert horizon, or walled garden, translates consistently across formats and has been used by travel media and luxury brands for editorial content.
