Destination Wedding in Marrakech: The Complete Guide

Why Marrakech Has Become a Premier Destination Wedding Location

Destination weddings in Marrakech have grown from a niche choice to a sought-after option for couples across Europe, the Americas, the Gulf and Asia. The reason is simple: Marrakech offers a combination of architectural drama, genuine privacy, year-round sunshine and all-inclusive logistics that few other destinations can match. It is close enough — 3h30 from London, 3h from Geneva, 4h from Frankfurt, 6h from Dubai — to be practical, and far enough to feel genuinely different from a wedding at home.

The Agafay desert, 40 minutes from Marrakech, is where every Long Table wedding takes place. A lunar plateau framed by the Atlas mountains, it offers outdoor weddings in complete privacy, from an intimate ceremony for 30 to a grand celebration for 300 guests, without the logistical constraints of a hotel venue.

The Setting

Agafay Desert: The privatised site where every Long Table wedding takes place. A stone plateau 30km south of Marrakech, with the Atlas mountains as backdrop, 330 days of sunshine and no other guests within miles. Ideal for ceremonies at sunset, candlelit dinners under the stars, and receptions under the stars, with timings agreed with you from the brief. Capacity: 30 to 300 guests.

Wedding Formats

Not all destination weddings in Marrakech are the same. The Long Table offers four formats designed around group size:

  • Elopement (under 30 guests, on request): Ceremony and dinner in complete privacy. A very personal format.
  • Intimate Wedding (30–100 guests): Close family and friends. A full evening in a privatised setting, ceremony at golden hour, dinner under the stars.
  • Classic Destination Wedding (100–300 guests): The full celebration — ceremony, standing reception, gala dinner, live music, dancing.
  • Grand Celebration (more than 300 guests, on request): Multi-day event in the Agafay desert. All-inclusive, fully managed.

When to Get Married in Marrakech

Marrakech has one of the longest outdoor event seasons of any destination wedding location. October through May is ideal: temperatures between 18 and 26°C, clear skies, and the Atlas mountains sometimes snow-capped from December to March for a dramatic visual backdrop. June through September is warmer (30–38°C) but evenings in the desert are magical — the heat dissipates after sunset and the nights are spectacular. There is no wrong month for a destination wedding in Marrakech, but October, November, March and April are the most requested.

Where Guests Come From

Marrakech is accessible from almost every major city in Europe, the Americas, the Gulf and Asia. British guests fly direct from London, Manchester and Bristol in 3h30. Gulf guests arrive from Dubai in 6h, Beirut in 5h30 and Tel Aviv in 4h. American guests fly via New York (9h), London or Casablanca. Swiss, German and Benelux guests have direct routes from Geneva, Zürich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Brussels. No visa required for EU, UK, US, Canadian, GCC, or most Asian passport holders.

What Fully Privatised Means

The Long Table does not operate a shared venue. When you book a wedding at The Long Table, the entire site on the Agafay desert plateau, 40 minutes from Marrakech, is exclusively yours. No other guests, no hotel guests walking through, no other events sharing the space. The setting is prepared entirely for your wedding and remains yours from setup to breakdown. This is the foundational promise of the offer, and it distinguishes The Long Table from any hotel or resort venue.
