Where to Host a Private Event
in Marrakech

The right venue depends on your guest count and on how much privacy you need: a riad suits a small group, a hotel suits a hosted stay, a Palmeraie villa suits a family gathering, and the Agafay desert suits a group that wants an open horizon. If you want a whole site for your group alone, from 30 to 300 guests, a privatised plateau 40 minutes from Marrakech is the option we offer.

The Options

Your options in Marrakech, type by type

No venue suits every group: here are the strengths and limits of each type.

Riads and guest houses of the medina

For whom : Small private groups, family weekends and intimate dinners that want the atmosphere of the old city.

Group size : Usually up to 20 or 30 guests, depending on the house.

Strengths : Courtyards, rooftops and a strong sense of place, close to the souks.

Limits : Narrow alleys mean guests and equipment arrive on foot. Sound carries over rooftops to the neighbours, so music has to stay low. The courtyard fixes the capacity.

Palaces and hotels

For whom : Groups that want a hosted stay, with rooms and services together.

Group size : From around 20 to several hundred, depending on the ballroom or the garden.

Strengths : Rooms, staff and facilities together, with easy access from the airport.

Limits : Other guests are often on the property and some spaces are shared, so privacy is partial. House rules and in-house catering can limit the design.

Villas of the Palmeraie

For whom : Private family celebrations, small weddings and weekend groups.

Group size : Usually 20 to 80 guests.

Strengths : A walled garden, a pool and room for a marquee, in a quiet setting outside the city.

Limits : Neighbouring villas are never far and noise rules apply. Narrow access roads restrict vehicles and tents. Kitchen, power and sanitation often have to be brought in, and bedrooms are limited.

Gardens and open-air grounds

For whom : Daytime receptions, garden weddings and brand days that need green space.

Group size : From around 50 to 300 guests or more.

Strengths : Open air and a flexible layout, with room for tents and a stage.

Limits : Summer heat and wind need planning. Power, kitchens and facilities are temporary installations. Noise limits apply near housing.

The Agafay desert

For whom : Groups who want an open horizon, silence and space to build an evening from scratch.

Group size : From 30 to 300 guests, and beyond on request.

Strengths : No neighbours, a wide sky, space for a long table and for shows.

Limits : It is 40 minutes from the city, with a final stretch on a dirt track, so transfers are needed. Evenings are cool in winter. Nearly everything has to be brought in unless the site is equipped for it.

Agafay

The privatised Agafay plateau

The Long Table Marrakech is the option for groups that want the whole site for themselves. One group at a time, nobody else on site, from 30 to 300 guests, with smaller or larger groups on request. The plateau lies 40 minutes from Marrakech, reached by a dirt track.

Choosing

How to choose

Five questions settle most decisions.

1 · Number of guests

Start with the real figure. Under 30 points to a riad or villa, 30 to 300 to a hotel, a garden or a privatised site.

2 · Privacy

Ask who else is on the property and who can hear you. A shared hotel and a privatised site offer very different levels of discretion.

3 · Logistics

Check access, transfers, kitchens, power and bedrooms. A venue that needs everything brought in needs a team to do it.

4 · Season

Summer favours evenings and shade, winter favours days and warm layers. Ramadan and holidays also change availability.

5 · Budget

Compare what is included, not only the rental. Transfers, catering and staff often decide the real cost.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Where should I host a private event in Marrakech?

It depends on your group: riads for small gatherings, hotels for hosted stays, Palmeraie villas for family celebrations, and the Agafay desert for groups who want a whole site.

How many guests can a private event in Marrakech host?

A riad usually hosts up to 30, a villa 20 to 80, and hotels or gardens up to several hundred. Our Agafay plateau hosts 30 to 300 guests, smaller or larger on request.

Yes. Our Agafay plateau hosts one group at a time, with nobody else on site. Some villas and riads can also be privatised, at their smaller capacity.
